Who We Are ...
McFlys is a classic car hire business located in Derbyshire. We offer two of the most iconic movie vehicles in existence, the Delorean DMC-12 and Lotus Esprit Turbo for static display, making your event simply unforgettable. Ideal for weddings, birthdays, corporate events and exhibitions, your guests can experience the thrill of these legendary cars up close either individually or as an exclusive pair, if you wish to deliver maximum impact!
The DeLorean DMC-12 and Lotus Esprit are angular icons of 1970s-80s automotive futurism, essentially estranged cousins shaped by the genius of Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Lotus Esprit, launched in 1975, exemplified his "folded paper" design language with its sharp, wedge-shaped profile, linear creases, pop-up headlights, and mid-engine agility that perfectly embodied Lotus's lightweight sports car philosophy under Colin Chapman. The DeLorean DMC-12 entered production in 1981, built on similar styling roots with its gleaming unpainted stainless-steel body and dramatic gull-wing doors. Though Giugiaro penned the initial concept, Lotus played a crucial role in rescuing the project—adapting elements of the Esprit's backbone chassis, suspension, and engineering to bring the DMC-12 to production reality.
Their routes to cinematic immortality diverged as strikingly as their shared design DNA converged. The Lotus Esprit became a global star in the James Bond films, most memorably as the pearl-white "Wet Nellie" submarine car in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), with a later Turbo appearance in For Your Eyes Only. Meanwhile, the DeLorean achieved legendary status in Back to the Future (1985) as Doc Brown's time-traveling machine, its futuristic stainless-steel form and gull-wing doors making it the perfect 1980s icon. Today, both cars enjoy passionate worldwide fanbases, with enthusiasts celebrating the Esprit's dynamic British sports car heritage and the DeLorean's stainless-steel audacity at events and through dedicated restorations.

Add a new display dimension to your special event with our legendary Delorean DMC-12. Our unique 1983 example in the original brushed stainless steel and offers all the groundbreaking features synonymous with this car, such as gull-wing doors and a rear mounted 2.8L V6 engine. The radical outline still shows all the hallmarks of late 1970s futurism. Hailing from the respected Giorgetto Giugiaro car design house, only 9000 DMC-12s were made globally. And ours could be yours.
Our McFlys Deloren has of course been retrofitted with some highly secret time travel elements to ensure that your special event can be relived. That’s why we only offer static display; we cannot risk you getting to 88mph!
